A Comparative Analysis of Design and Engineering Design Research Based on the viewpoint of Design Science

Abstract

In this paper, a comparative analysis based on the Design Science between Design and Engineering Design is conducted. The analysis of this paper is based on the viewpoint of the Multispace Design Model; a model which can comprehensively analyze a designing. With respect to the five elements in the thinking space of this model; value, meaning, state, circumstance, and attribute, each research paper are evaluated. As a result, each characteristic of Design and Engineering Design are clarified: complementary relationship between meaning elements and state elements.
