Abstract
 Scott Burton is well known to the artist who worked in America as a minimal artist in 1960's. He called generally the sculptor and performer, furthermore he designed about 60 furniture. In spite of his vigorous work, he is not even introduced at all in Japan.  The aim of this research is to characterize through the objective analyses in terms of its materials, composition and the evolution of his methods. Result of these analyses, it was confirmed the following: A lot of his furniture designs were located between sculpture and furniture because he focused on the characteristics of materials as sculptor. He had the original method for design and developed it by relation material and composition through his short life.
