Abstract
This study considers the relationship between K. Lonberg-Holm who was an architect known as a producer of Sweet‘s catalogue design together with L. Sutnar and O. Neurath who conceived Isotype, by examining those activities for the IRI in the 1930s. While Neurath was an active member of the IRI since1931, Lonberg-Holm joined a series of IRI research project dedi-cated for planning economy immediate after his acquaintance of Van-Kleeck , co-president of the IRI in 1934 together with T. Larson. Interestingly Van-Kleeck saw a kind of kinship between their and Neurath’s economic theories. In this study by describing more detail of their relationship, I would like to provide a flesh view on history of information design in the 1930’s America.
