Application of 3D printer to wood CNC machining

Abstract

The continuity of the crafts industry in Japan requires an increase in revenue through innovative production. This research represents an advancement of computer numerical control (CNC) wood machining using fixtures including 3D printed parts. The developed vacuum fixtures were tested by CNC machining of wood. The results showed that CNC machining of test models was achieved with high precision, suggesting the feasibility of machining complex shapes.
