The first stacking chairs as industrial products and their genealogy

Abstract

Stacking chairs and stools are used in all kinds of spaces. However, not many people know how they originated and spread. To understand how stacking chairs and stools were born and how they have continued to spread, this report focuses on “the first stacking chairs” and positions “Multipl's” as “the first stacking chair” based on the patents. In researching the “Multipl's”, it was also possible to find a genealogy of stacking chairs based on the concave shaped legs that are characteristic of the body.
