Abstract

In Japan, women became the main interior practitioners after WW2, and the American country style characterized by handmade interior and natural wood, became popular. But in 1990's, men also began to take an interest in interior design, and they preferred modern design interiors and disliked decorative interiors. At the same time, women began to try to break away from the childish American country style., but it was difficult to escape the country influence altogether. What was born at this time was the "Natural" interior, which encompassed both modern design and country style.
