Abstract

This study aims to design workshops using papercrafts for detailed observation of real animals. We report on a case of the "What Kind of Horns?" workshop held at the Kanazawa Zoo in Yokohama City. In this workshop, we focused on observing animals' eyes, ears, and horns. We introduced observation sheets for participants to draw their findings, used papercrafts to show the results of their observations, and distributed explanation sheets for review. The papercrafts were used to create a model of the animal's head, allowing eyes, ears, and horns to be freely attached according to the observation results. Following a similar process, we conducted the workshop twice and made improvements to the papercrafts, aiming for a design that even small children could easily make.
