Abstract

Street pianos are set up so that anyone can play them freely, with the goal of creating human connections through music. However, playing musical instruments in public places poses a high psychological hurdle, making it difficult to play. Therefore, we investigated ways to reduce the reluctance to play in public places and make people feel comfortable playing. The study found that the communication that occurs at street piano sites reduces anxiety and pressure, leading to less resistance to playing. From our survey, we proposed a service to promote dialogue as an opportunity to experience the dialogue that occurs through the street piano and to enjoy playing the street piano.
