A transformational analysis of the characters in 50 titles of "Tom & Jerry"

Abstract

This study examines the characteristics of animated slapstick expressions through a transformational analysis of 50 titles of "Tom & Jerry". The results indicate that some typical patterns adapt to a scene’s story development. Finally, based on the above results, the uniqueness of animated slapstick expressions is discussed.
