Research on digital support methods to prevent lost items

Abstract

Despite the development of various products and applications designed to prevent forgotten belongings, many of these solutions remain insufficient, as they only provide support after an item has already been lost. In this study, we propose a method for making it a habit to act in a way that prevents forgetting by giving a memorable reminder at the moment when you are about to forget something, assuming that forgetting is due to prospective memory forgetting.

Specifically, we take up the common scenario of students forgetting their mobile phones in the classroom. As a solution, we propose a notification system that gives a reminder the moment you leave your seat without picking up your mobile phone.
