Abstract

This study investigates how information prioritization influences interface design in police-operated crime prevention applications. Through a literature review, user testing, and interviews with university students, the study found that users prioritize immediate recognition of incident occurrence and content over map-based location information. The analysis also revealed structural UI issues, including increased cognitive load caused by numerous menu items. Based on these findings, a simplified interface design is proposed for the Okayama Prefectural Police application “Hare-no-Police.”
