A prospective study of 12 patients(8 men and 4 women)who underwent artery-only replantation for subzone II complete fingertip amputation without venous anastomosis and external bleeding between 2010-2019. The mean patient age at surgery was 55 years old(range, 23-74). Eleven of 12(92%)replanted fingertips survived. Venous congestion was present for a few days, but improved naturally in a week. The survival rates of subzone II complete fingertip amputation accompanied with external bleeding without venous anastomosis were 62-88%. The results of this prospective study were comparable to those of previous reports. The survival rate of subzone II complete fingertip artery-only replantation without venous anastomosis and external bleeding, including pin-prick, may be equivalent to that of replantation with vein reconstruction. The need for external bleeding remains unclear.
