Effect of heavy metals on the reproduction of hydra, Pelmatohydra robusta was investigated by feeding Moina macrocopa which had accumulated heavy metals.
Cadmium and mercury had higher toxic effect on hydra when these metals were taken through food, whereas when hydra were exposed to dissolved metals in the culture solution for hydra, the toxicity was lower.
While, Cupper showed higher toxicity to hydra in the form of solution compared with the accumulation form in zooplankton as food.
