Japan Research Corporation organized a special mission to EUCEPA symposium on “Control systems in the pulp and paper industry” held in May, 1982 at Stockholm. The mission headed by Dr. Y. Nozaka, professor in control engineering at Tokai University, consisted of 3 engineers in pulp and paper companies and 4 engineers in instruments and control systems manufacturers in Japan.
After the symposium the mission made a two-week tour to visit several leading pulp and paper mills in Sweden and Finland.
This paper gives a brief summary of its report on computer control systems in the pulp and paper industry in Scandinavian countries.
