A method for measuring the liveliness of paper was developed. The main part of the apparatus consists of two parts : (a) a cylinder along which the sample is bent to a certain curvature ; (b) the optical system to measure the recovery time accurately.
On the basis of the relationship between the recovery time and the flexural rigidity, the liveliness of paper was defined as 1/t2, where t is the recovery time of the sheet bent in a circular form, the radius of which is 4.20 cm.
