Japan Pulp & Paper Research Institute Inc. has just begun the study on process development of Solvolysis pulping. The study is financially supported by Ministry of International Trade and Industry and will be continued for the period of five years.
In this report, the present state of kraft pulping is discussed from the viewpoint of wood or biomass utilization and other alternatives including Solvolysis are outlined.
