As a member of the Research Association of Pulp and Paper Technology established in September, 1982, our group is engaged in improving the technology of high solids concentration of black liquor.
Our studies are being carried out according to the following schedule.
19831984 : Bench-scale experimemt (120 B.D. kg/hr)
1984 : Construction of pilot plant (417 B.D. kg/hr)
19851986 : Operation of pilot plant
Disc Evaporator has been developed in order to obtain high concentration black liquor.
By using Disc Evaporator, we have produced 8090% DS black liquor.
Boiling point rise and viscosity of high solids black liquor are presented.
The economic aspects are roughly considered, because the objective of bench-scale experiment is to identify possible means for concentrating black liquor to higher solids level.
Pilot scale studies, in 1985, will define the economy and energy efficiency of Disc Evaporator.
