Process engineering for solvolysis pulping was discussed especially on energy usage comparing to KP process. The total process was constructed based on the data from experiments for each unit operation. The total energy consumed to produce 1 ADT pulp by solvolysis pulping process is nearly equal to that by KP process. To level up the energy efficiency to produce the pulp and other chemicals as by-products, a further research is required for the conversion of the lignin to the useful materials.
