Requirements to the paper quality from the printing quality area are demanding. In addition to the conventional paper properties in macro scale (grammage, moisture, caliper, strength, etc), more emphasis is being focused on controlling properties related to paper rheology (elasticity, internal tension, dimensional stability, etc) and paper structure (fiber orientation, distribution of fines and fillers in Z direction).
In addition to these quality subjects, higher productivity should be satisfied by the paper machine simultaneously. This article attempts to describe some recent results and achievements which are available to the paper maker.
