Bone mineral content of the second, third and fourth lumbar vertebrae was measured in persons with complaining of lumbago by DEXA (Holgic GDR1000)

The percentage of subjects with vertebral fractures increased as on aging (until 70 years old) and as the BMD decreased.

In 161 person (over 70 years old) when BMD decreased to less than 0.7mg/cm², the risk of osteoporotic vertebral fractures escalates rapidly.
