Abstract
This study is a continuation of the work of last year. In the first year's study, fundamental structure of the village was seen from the time of development up to the present. In order to grasp the entire image of the village more deeply, we studied it under seven themes this year. In chapter 5, first of all, we clarified again the nature of this study. Characteristics of a region is determined by complication of both external and internal factors. This study, which is one of such regional studies, shows the points under the aspects of①regionality,②multiple views,③togetherness, ④enduringness. Chapter 6 has three sections. Sectional analyses precisely the land purchasing process from the original land owners. It became clear that the land was purchased since 1914 and the change of owners have eight patterns in connection with Kojiro Tsutsumi and the Hakone-tochi Inc.. Section 2 sees the change of the land owners from the time of the original sale of the village until 1986. A lot of selling and buying of the land took place after World War II. In Section 3, we analyse the title of both the land and buildings. Chapter 7 discusses development of surrounding area of “Mejiro-Bunka-Mura”, 151 residential houses constructed by Tokyo-fu Housing Association in 1921, and release of Konoe Residence the following year in connection with the Hakone-tochi Inc.. Chapter 8 discusses classes of the residents in 1940 according to new materials and the life during the war through residents' organization. Chapter 9 shows restoration method of the ground plan of the house. It also makes it clear that the view of the village was quite westernized at that time. Chapter 10 analyses the style and design of the houses of the village from the view point of the influences of English and American suburban houses. Chapter 11 analyses residents' movement for the protection of environment of the village. We evaluate the efforts of the residents highly for the present good condition maintained.
