Abstract

Recently, conversions of vacant office into residence draw attention, but most of them are only done as the means of filling vacancy, even though them are bigger merits hidden. This paper defined conversion as the method to make an attractive inner city quickly and integrally, and named that as “Area Conversion”. First of all, the recent situation of conversion in Tokyo was cleared. Secondly, the situation of “area conversion”, which made Lower Manhattan revitalize, was analyzed Finally, it is suggested that area conversion is needed in Tokyo as an area revitalization stately.
