The factors affecting the Characters of the alleys could be as follows: human-scale and safety from the traffic, variety of functions, mixture of territory. The purpose of this study is to investigate the conditions of living territorialization in the frontal road and open-space in each site , and to clarify the possibility of succession of the character of the alleys. The results may be summarized as follows: by changes of the physical factors such as the improvement of roads, the Characters of the alleys grow weak, but the behaviors and consciousness of inhabitant indicate the possibility of succession of the alleys.
