This study aims to understand 1) the situation of assistance for domestic violence survivors by non-profit organization in Japan, 2) the case study of Kanagawa Prefecture which utilizes welfare to assist DV survivors who are homeless. After the establishment act on the prevention violence and the protection victims the partnership between the public sector and non-profit organization has been created. However many non-profit organizations protect survivors for free and support their housing problem by themselves. In Kanagawa prefecture the roles of non-profit organizations, prefecture and city are clear, and a common assistance system is established. Many survivors can’t be independent because of mental illness even though they live on welfare.
