Abstract

What is the condition necessary to make use of the experience of a past recovery support to the next disaster area? The authors engaged in community building support to prevent isolation in several disaster-stricken areas after the Great East Japan Earthquake. In 2016, the authors established a non-profit organization, “Tsunagari-Design Center Asuto Nagamachi, ”to continue the practice. Our support has two types. One type is an approach to succeed to community brought up in temporary housing in a disaster public housing. Another type is an approach to support the community development from the shift period of the disaster public housing. This paper is a report of the activity that we worked on to make use of these experience in Kumamoto earthquake.
