Residential nees of foreign households with children and municipality supports

Abstract

This study aims to clarify the current situation and needs of foreign newcomer households with children, and to identify policy issues and make proposals of the support systems of local governments. In order to understand the actual situation, this study focused on areas with large foreign populations in Tokyo metropolitan area, and conducted a survey of the current status and needs of foreign child-rearing households in the housing environment. In order to examine the concerns of foreign child-rearing households, we identified issues through interviews. Furthermore, municipal policies with large foreign populations were investigated, and support systems were discussed.
