Abstract
A 3-month-old female mongrel dog weighing 0.8 kg was admitted with vomitting and dyspnea post cibum. Physical examination, thoracic radiography and barium sulfate contrast radiography revealed persistent right aortic arch with a esophageal diverticulum. The dog was maintained under feeding of small amounts of liquid diet for 20 days, followed by thoracotomy under general anesthesia. The ligamentum arteriosum was dissected free from the esophagus between the aorta and pulmonary artery. Then surgical removal of the esophgeal diverticulum was performed. After the operation, the dog showed no regurgitation even by giving solid food and the esophagram at 131 days after the surgery revealed that the portion of resection was in a normal condition.
