Abstract

An antibody survey against Toxoplasma was conducted on 93 house cats by the indirect hemagglutination (IHA) test. The rate of positive TETA was 50.5%. Antibody titer was 1: 256 in 29.8%, 1: 1024 in 44.7%, 1: 4096 in 10.6%, and≥1: 16384 in 14.9%. That rate was 15% in cats less than one year old and about 53% in those more than one year old. There was no sex difference in it.
Thirteen cats positive for IHA and 12 cats negative for IHA were administered daily with 10mg/kg of 2-sulfamoy1-4, 4'-diaminodiphenylsulfone (SDDS) mixed with the ration for 6 months. None of them showed IHA converted from negative to positive or an increase in antibody titer. No side effects of SDDS wer eobserved.
