Abstract
Haemophilus equigenitalis was destroyed by 15 disinfectants used and 9 commercial ones. The Iatter were as effective as, or more effective than, chlorhexidine. All the disinfectants examined were reduced by about one-tenth in bactericidal effect against the organism in the vaginal exudation, except Neo-kureha-sol which remained unchanged in effect.
In general, Hi-lite, a chlorine disinfectant, was the most effective of all. Chlorhexidine, iodine preparations, and amphoteric soap were effective disinfectants for the equine body, Pacoma and chlorine products for stables and exercise grounds, and “ortho” preparations for the door mat of the stable.
