An Outbreak of Snuffle in Angora Rabbits

Abstract
Snuffle broke out on an Angora rabbit farm. The clinical signs were sneezing, running nose and snuffling. A crisis was recognized in both breeding and growing rabbits.
Five affected animals were sacrificed.Bordetella bronchisepticaandPasteurella multocidawere isolated from nasal swabs. The common macroscopic changes were retaining of mucus in the nasal cavity and the paranasal sinus. Histological examination showed catarrhal inflammation of the nose and osteolysis of the turbinate.
Tweenty breeding and nine growing rabbits were examined the saturation ofB. bronchiseptica. B. bronchisepticaandP. multocidawere isolated from the nasal swab in 86% and 17% of rabbits, respectively. Agglutination antibody unit against B.bronchisepticawas×98 in breeding and×25 in growing rabbits.
We consider that the main causal agent of this outbreak isB. bronchiseptica.
