A Short-Tailed Steer with Aortic Over-riding and Ventricular Septal Defect

Abstract

A 3 month-old female Holstein steer weighing 38 kg showing growth retardation, short tail (3 cm) and ascites had ventricular septal defect and aortic over-riding aortic. In the vertebrae, there were dysplasia of the right spinosus processes caudal to S3, and spondyloschisis between L6 and Cl.The caudal vertebrae consisted of two bones and the caudal most was formed by fusion of two bones.
