Abstract
A total of 1, 441 isolates ofA. pleuropneumoniaefrom swine pneumonic lungs collected during 1989 to 1995 were examined for serotypes and susceptibility to antimicrobial agents. Of the 1, 441 isolates, 757 (52.5%) and 523 (36.3%) were of serotypes 2 and 1, respectively, while 90 (6.2%), 22 (1.5%), 21 (1.5%) and 20 (1.4%) isolates were of serotypes 5, 7, 8, and 3, respectively. The remaining 7 (0.5%) and 1 isolates were of serotypes 12 and 9. In 1990 and 1991, the isolation rate of serotype 2 were lower and that of serotype 1 were higher. All the isolates were highly sensitive to spiramycin, kitasamycin, erythromycin, lincomycin, novobiocin and colistin, whereas 915 (63.5%) were resistant to some drugs. The resistant isolates were 338 (44.6%) of 757 of serotype 2, 13 (61.9%) of 21 of serotype 8, and most isolates of serotypes 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 12.
