Abstract

A canine coronavirus (CCV) isolate, strain 5821, from the lung of a dog with diarrhea and respiratory disorders, was inoculated into puppies by various routes. In most cases the virus was recovered from the lymph nodes adjacent to the inoculation sites without showing diarrhea and shedding virus in feces. A 3-day-old puppy developed respiratory signs and died after oronasal inoculation, and CCV was recovered from many organs including the respiratory tract. The virus was recovered from the lungs of many cases of 2-month-old puppies after intratracheal inoculation, showing norespiratory signs
