Abstract
hypercalcemia, and radiography revealed an abdominal mass. Experimentallaparotomy showed a large, solid mass originating from the liver. Because the mass was big and tended to bleedwhen manipulated, we abandoned complete excision and collected samples for histophathology. The patientdied 2 days after the operation. The mass was diagnosed as hepatoblastoma. Elevated parathyroidhormone-related protein (PTH-rP) and serum α-feto protein levels suggested that the PTH-rP secreted by hepatoblastomacells led to hypercalcemia in the patient.
