Abstract
Pathological studies were performed on 18 pigs diagnosed with postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) at Tochigi for an investigation of the relationships between porcine circo virus type 2 (PCV2) antigen and lymphocyte depletion. Pigs affected with PMWS showed lymphocyte depletion, mononuclear cellsinfiltration, multinucleated giant cells and numerous inclusion bodies in lymphoid tissues. The amount of PCV2antigen was correlated positively with the degree of B lymphocyte depletion and lymphoid lesions.
