Isolation and Serological Survey of Chlamydiosis in Feral Pigeons and Crows in Hokkaido

Abstract

Isolation and serological survey of Chlamydia psittaci was performed in feral pigeons and crows captured in Hokkaido. Complement fixing antibodies were found in 32(30.5%) out of 105 pigeons, and in 18(22%) out of 82 crows. The organisms were isolated from the spleens of 9(7.6%) out of 119 pigeons but not from 179 crows.
