Abstract

Monoclonal antibody (MoAb) c143 has been shown to react with tumor-associated antigen on neoplastic cells from cattle with enzootic bovine leukosis (EBL). The c143 showed suppressive effect on tumor growth of EBL cell line implanted in nude mice as evidenced by smaller size of tumor nodules in the antibody-treated group than that of the control animals (P<0.05). The histopathological changes on inoculated sites of mice treated with c143 were examined. In c143-treated mice, proliferation of macrophage was observed at 3 days and was remarkable between 7 to 14 days after tumor cells inoculation. Cellular immune responses by macrophages might be involved in the anti-tumor effects of c143-treated nude mice.
