Clinically, mouth breathing is quite hazardous, and severe gum inflammation and multiple tooth decay are caused with it. Pathological cause and mechanism have not been clarified yet sufficiently. This experiment was carried out to clarify oral air flow pattern associated with mouth breathing and to investigate the amount of evaporation on the model. Velocity profiles were also measured on it. During inhalation, evaporation from the palatal gum-margin of upper central incisor was remarkable. It may be thought one of the reasons why inflammation is so conspicuous in this region.
