Abstract
A laser scanning device has been newly utilized to draw arbitrary 3-dimensional surfaces in space of interest, and applied to 3-D flow visualization in the field of flow dynamics. Laminar-to-turbulence transitions in a circular jet has been visualized as one of the applications of this method by means of the proposed laser scanning technology. Transition originated from vortical structures in the water channel have been successfully visualized on the conical surfaces of interest. The obtained images show that the laser scanning method can offer very interesting information in terms of circumferential surface in a circular jet.
