When sonic air jet from nozzles with conical outside geometry is exhausted perpend-iculary over water surface in a water tank, water sucked by the jet was optically observed by a high-speed video camera. As the results, water rises along the nozzle wall and is led to atomization resulting from collision with the jet over the nozzle exit. Also, the exhaust pressure at which water is sucked considerably decreases in compari-son to the case of without inclination nozzle with the increasing inclination of the conical surface. Moreover, the region in which water rises around the nozzle becomes smaller with the increasing inclination of the conical surface.
