Abstract

Phase change material of Ge2Sb2Te5 (GST) shows non-thermal transition from crystal phase to amorphous phase under strong irradiation of femto second optical pulses. In this study, we controlled the number of pulses of a fiber laser amplifire with the wavelength of 1035 nm and pulse duration of 309 fs and illuminated it to a crystal GST under vacuum and room temperature. We observed change of atomic images and IV curves of the sample before and after the photo-irradiation by using in situ scanning tunneling microscopy.
