Raman spectroscopy has evolved into a versatile tool to characterize structural, electronic, and optical properties of graphene-based materials such as pristine graphene, graphene oxide (GO), and reduced graphene oxide (RGO). However, in contrast to pristine graphene , Raman spectral analysis of GO and RGO is challenging due to their complex lattice structure. Apart from the optical visibility, a strong dependence of the Raman spectroscopy of monolayer pristine graphene on the SiO 2 layer thickness has been reported. Therefore, in the present work, we study the effect of the substrate on Raman spectra of GO and RGO mono- and few-layer flakes, which is useful in interpreting the Raman spectra of these materials.
