Abstract
A robust controller was developed for a variablespeed pitch controlled turbine, using Mu-Synthesis.Itenables more sophisticated and robust control thanH-Infinity by structured uncertainties taken intoaccount in the design.
Its robustness in cases of large model errors, suchas twice as long pitch delay, was verified throughnon-linear simulations.A field test was also carried outand demonstrated its fairly good characteristics.Andthe measured power curve was significantly improvedthan former PI controller.
The controller and design method are expected toprovide promising solutions in turbulent conditionssuch as complex terrains or wind farms.
