Effect of strength matching on ductile fracture behavior on X80 girth weld joints (Report 3)

Abstract

The critical condition to initiate ductile crack of girth welded joint in X80 linepipe was clarified by conducting 3 point bending CTOD tests and wide plate tensile tests. In addition, the effects of types of strength matching on ductile crack initiation were evaluated using finite element analyses.
