Abstract
High current pulsed MAG welding was investigated in order to get the full penetration welding of T joints without back gouging. However, hot cracks were generated according to the welding conditions and the groove geometries in case that the plate thickness is 25mm over.
3D finite element method for hot crack using temperature dependent interface element (3D-TIFEM) can predict the formation and extension of hot crack in case of T joints. As experimental and computed results, the hot crack is hard to occur in condition of comparatively much heat input and back bead.
