We observed foraging of Nymphoides peltata root systems by the Eurasian Coot Fulcia atra at Lake Nishiura, a part of Kasumigaura, Ibaraki Prefecture. On November 24, 2016, a Eurasian Coot swallowed rhizome, roots, and the flowering stem or petiole. Floating leaves and stems are often foraged by waterfowl, but this observation is a rare record of birds foraging on root systems of Nymphoides peltata
