Macrothricids mostly live in the littoral zone, in the benthos, on aquatic plants or in littoral plankton, in fresh or brackish water bodies. A new species of Genus Macrothrix, Macrothrix nukataensis Ojika, Tanaka and Makita n. sp. was discovered in the Ameyama reservoir, Okazaki-shi, Nukata Ameyama-cho, Aichi Prefecture.
