Until the early of 21st century, pharmaceutical company had been run own business boldly continuously through launching many products including blockbusters under management of strong top-down style of leader. However, once drug patents, expired the business performance had often become sluggish. In 2010, nobody had able to escape from the patent cliff. Thereafter, in recent years, giants of digital technology platformer, GAFA, has influenced in not only computer industry from B2B to B2C but the other industry including pharmaceutical industry as well. Thence, pharmaceutical company has faced to transform their business model as well as to be platformer of business ecosystem. In addition to the hard side, as a soft aspect, leadership style also tends to be shifted from conventional top-down style of leader then management style leader to authentic leader. On the ecosystem and under the leadership, the Strength of Weak Ties theory is a key to archive high performance on the business; weak ties are surprisingly valuable because they are more likely to be the source of novel information. On such ecosystem, in the highly competitive and highly regulated pharmaceutical industry, the company is struggling to seek maximizing drug value based on its corporate philosophy. In this report, we considered the success factors are (1) in business transformation, to build an organization that is aware of weak connections and incorporate partners who have not partnered in the past, (2) in leadership, to adopt a style that can demonstrate its capabilities while adapting itself to the environment.
