Chapter 4 of “Digital Education for Executives in Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises” series is “ICT and Various Work Styles,” and we would learn about the transformation of work styles.

As ICT has widely adopted, we can connect to networks anywhere in the world. Japan’s work style reform has progressed rapidly as measures against corona infections. When obvious changes occur in the external environment, Japan as a country work on the reform without questioning. Most companies took on telework as a countermeasure against corona infections. Confusions among workers may occur if companies are not prepared to do so.

It is important for companies to develop human resources through proper evaluations and guidelines if they want telework to be successful. Otherwise, there is a risk that productivity and organizational strength would decline, and corporate growth will be paused.

This article focuses on issues related to telework and addresses considerations for employers to work on.
