    This research focuses on the role of data in platform strategy and analyzes the “Super App” that is becoming popular in Japan these days.

    From previous research, we focused on the strategic importance of data utilization and multihoming costs in the platform, and tried to consider why “Super App” is required from these perspectives. As a result, in addition to these two points, it is possible that differential strategy plays an important role in the apps, and as a new issue, these competitive advantages becoming apparent that it may not work in Japan.

    Child poverty is a social problem in Japan. The corona crisis has done a lot of damage to poor families with children. Poverty problems are generally solved by the government based on the social security system. However, there are many issues that cannot be solved by the government alone, and voluntary organizations such as NPOs are active to solve them.

    In this paper, I pick up a service called "Kodomo Takushoku", which delivers meals to families with children facing financial challenges. I consider this service from the perspective of collective impact (CI) and digital transformation (DX).

    In Japan, there is a chronic shortage of ICT human resources, and ICT skills are also in short supply. Previous research has proposed a mechanism to decompose and organize the business knowledge possessed by veteran consultants and prevent omissions in consideration.

    Therefore, in this research, we focused on the ICT skill test method and conducted a demonstration experiment of a mechanism for inheriting the know-how of experts.

    As a result, even an inexperienced person could create the test specifications. However, there is room for improvement. We will continue to contribute to resolving the shortage of ICT human resources by systematizing and structuring human resource quality issues.

    Japanese companies are lagging behind the rest of the world in promoting DX. In particular, it is said from previous research that there is a problem with purpose. In this research, we investigated whether the simulated experience using a card game solved a problem through the requirements definition process. As a result of this survey, it was effective in grasping the purpose and target and selecting the priority of the requirements. We believe that the way we play card games needs to be improved. In the future, I would like to improve the way games are played, eliminate the recognition gap in requirement definition, and eventually contribute to promoting DX in Japanese companies.

    Due to the COVID-19, various changes were seen not only in the housing purchasing behavior of customers, but also in housing equipment and floor plans. In addition to the purchasing behavior of customers, it also has a significant impact on the way employees work. This paper introduces successful cases of digitalization of sales activities triggered by the COVID-19.One factor behind the success of digitalization is the mechanism for developing IT skills on-site by young employees. Next, we introduced a mechanism to motivate young employees to use DX tools for their superiors and seniors. In addition, it is important to build a system that realizes TFL Transformational Leadership with intrinsic motivation, such as transferring authority to branch managers and introducing an evaluation system.

    The purpose of this study is to examine analytical methods in management accounting change to clarify the mechanisms of organizational change and organizational conflict in the implementation of a new management accounting system. As a result, we present an analytical framework based on a literature review of three theories necessary for conflict analysis using institutional theory as the theoretical foundation: the process of institutionalization framework, the institutional logic concept, and the institutional logic multiplicity within organization framework.

    This paper describes that how BASF Japan is driving the digital transformation with stimulating employees’ motivation as well as enhancing its learning culture for sustainable growth. There have been several studies which have shown that 1) failure with making a measure, digital transformation (DX), to a purpose, 2) DX without any tangible benefits. The purpose of this paper is to verify the necessity of DX to be deployed as a means of corporate transformation, which BASF Japan attempted. The company has been driving “task-level based” DX to enhance process excellence with boosting up digital literacy of each employee. The purpose of this paper is to report on the mechanism to move forward with DX driving business process efficiency as well as process transformation, i.e., 1) Position DX as a measure to drive corporate excellence linking it to corporate transformation, 2) Enhance digital literacy of all employees to transform business processes on task level, 3) Provide the training with in-house experts to build up the knowledge-pool. With creating such an environment each employee may exert their ownership for process excellence. And it may lead to kick in a virtuous cycle, where employees lean more for further contribution as business enabler.

    The relationship between the new social environment and ID (identity), such as the cyber ID in the Web3 space and the physical ID for personal authentication, is being highlighted. The authors conducted research and development based on the concept of “Job Gate”, which balances security and privacy in ID authentication management for visitors such as home delivery, and home services, which has become prominent under the pandemic.

    In the new normal (normalization of everyday / emergency coexistence), a resilient DX (digital transformation) strategy for cyber / physical dual phase space is required. In cyberspace, it is essential to build risk-tolerant ID authentication through distributed networks, and in physical space, to create fault-tolerant self-reliant entities that encompass this.

    Based on the above considerations, it was thought that autonomous decentralized ID systems in cyber space could guarantee the existence of the basis for the survival of subjects by combining them with self-sovereignty in physical space.

    The purpose of this study is to clarify how employee engagement has changed as a result of WFH and to examine the effectiveness of management techniques and measures to improve employee engagement. A questionnaire survey and interviews were conducted to ascertain the current situation; based on the employee engagement issues identified in the results of the survey conducted a year ago, effective measures for employee engagement, especially for managers, were examined.

    The survey results indicated that WFH has the disadvantages of “lack of communication” and “difficulty in evaluating and providing guidance to subordinates,” and that to address these disadvantages, both material and psychological measures are effective, such as communication, measures to encourage subordinates’ growth, and the development of a remote work environment.

    Professional universities are higher education institutions newly established by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2019 for the first time in 55 years. Kaishi Professional University, which was the field of this research, is the Article 1 school that opened in Niigata City in 2020, and is one of 14 professional universities opened by 2021. One of the characteristics of the new system of higher education at professional universities is practical education and practical training.

    In this paper, I will consider the support for starting a business for university students, focusing on the fact that entrepreneurship is cultivated based on on-site practical training and other training, and the activities of the Startup Support Center, which supports students based on the concept of career design, especially on the aspect of financing.

    In order to solve the global food loss problem, we have started a food sharing service in Japan. The content of the service is to sell edible but discarded products generated from restaurants and stores to consumers at application-limited prices. This is a service that leads to improved store sales, improved branding, and reduced food loss. We have summarized Japan's thoughts on food loss, differences from overseas, and considerations for future food sharing services that we have seen through interviews, interviews, surveys, and demonstration experiments with actual sites. Our company's service is currently suspended, but I explained the circumstances leading up to the suspension with these backgrounds in mind.

    This paper describes a drawback of REA model for voyage management. Unlike a discrete manufacturing system or simple supply chain system, a voyage is a long-lasting event that includes multiple sub-events and duration. The author discusses the necessity to consider processing time and throughput in the idea of event in REA model. The model with subevent and duration is considered to extend for process line of manufacturing. The idea may not be practical for the time being. However, with the enrichment of IoT, the internet of things, the idea of process and event as a functional expression with processing time will improve the analysis and decision-making of fact.

    This report advises human-oriented system architecture, which is a combination of digital and human abilities. Digital capability encourages the capabilities of firms. However, the objective and scale are quite different depending on the nature of the business and the size of the firm. Most importantly the author recommends all firms work on business process management. The objective is stakeholders’ communication in their supply chain inside and outside of the firms. Nowadays DX, Digital Transformation becomes a buzzword. The author does not recommend just following the trend. Rather the evaluation of the impact of the solutions and knowing current process, AS-IS and design future image, TO-BE, in business process management.

    The purpose of this research is to quantitatively express the differences in business models. As a method, a phylogenetic tree-based approach, which is often used in biological evolution, is employed. In the very simple cases, we success to describe the difference quantitively between business models. In addition, we also report on the characteristics of the phylogenetic tree of the business model, the difference from the creation of the phylogenetic tree of organisms, and the problems when applied to many actual business models.

    In order to build the vision of engineering industry for sustaining regional city/community coping with super aging society in Japan, the new business research group in Engineering Advancement Association of Japan (ENAA) has been examining the future form of social infrastructure. Based on the perspectives of “Society 5.0”, “Smart City” and “Super City” projects in government policy, we focus the developing process of typical type of smart city cases. Therefore, we researched 31 proposal contents of municipalities, which applied “Smart City”. And conducting field survey and case analysis of typical regional cases, we are examining each case analysis from the perspective of the three layers of “SDGs vision”, “smart policy”, and “smart utilization”, to extract the relationship between the elements in each layer. Then, through comparing the results of chain analysis, we are approaching categorization about regional smartification towards SDGs vision. As a result of applying our research framework to the cases of Kaga City, we show a possibility of the methodology for further research.

    This paper doubt whether the Japanese DMO promotion system will succeed or not through comparison and consideration between the Japanese concept of DMO and the overseas concept to advocate narrowness of the field of view of these and narrow the possibility of DMO as it is. In this way, it is found that Japanese promotion system should form a more flexible organizational structure to sustainability and changing consumer needs which can change destination area. To conclusion, for Japanese DMOs (including futures) should be more considerable and careful after first what is more important for their destinations before making their systems.

    Katashina Village is located in the northern part of Gunma Prefecture and is called Oze no Sato. Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the population and the number of tourists are decreasing. Therefore, it is necessary for the public and private sectors to co-creation to connect the natural rich water source area to the future.

    This article reports on the Club of “Oze no sato" , which was started with the aim of cultivating a climate in which the public and private sectors co-creation to realize a sustainable public community in Katashina Village.

    We have been explored KPIs on how to realize the company's corporate philosophy and vision for Ichinoyu Co., Ltd., a traditional hot spring inn that has a chain store in Hakone, which was founded in 1630.My aim for this research is to enhance both of customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction in this company where the author works. Furthermore, we would like to derive specific measures and indicators for them through the analysis based on operational efficiency, towards regional revitalization and co-creation of value with customers.

    It has been a long since the effectuation theory began to be evaluated academically in entrepreneurial research. However, there are not many opportunities for the practical use of effectuation theory in the decision-making of new business investment and additional investment in the field of the business. The effectuation is a fascinating theory that entrepreneurs are more likely to succeed if they make decisions by believing they can control the future through partnerships and consensus with stakeholders rather than trying to predict the future. This paper aims to organize previous research similar to effectuation. Then we insist that GA (genetic algorithm) determines business directions so that the GA helps unclear definitions in the effectuation theory. An EPSON's projectors' case gives insights for applicating the GA to the effectuation theory.

    Incorporated in 1986, Akagi Chicken Co., Ltd. is now in its 36th year. In 2010, it has been 12 years since he became the second representative director. Due to the coronavirus that occurred in 2020, sales in the tourism and restaurant industries have plummeted. The impact also spread to our company, and sales decreased by nearly 20%. In the process of searching and taking action that I should not continue like this, I decided to enroll after hearing from a graduate of the Nishikawa Institute of Technology and Management.

    Although I graduated from the Faculty of Business Information at university, I have been managing for 12 years with intuition. After studying management of technology at the Nishikawa Institute of Management of Technology, I honestly felt that I was disappointed that I had not taken management seriously.

    Management is about planning the future, and business management is a rulebook for management. I'll report back once it's sorted out.

    In recent years, the environment surrounding business has changed rapidly due to the promotion of digital transformation. Subcontractors in the software industry are under pressure to transform from a contracted business model to a value creation model that co-creates with customers. Previous studies said there is a lack of management education for Small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs), and a lack of learning to create “new businesses” is a problem in training for mid-level managers. This research focused on the human resource development method for technology management for medium-sized companies and SMEs. We conducted a demonstration experiment at a medium-sized software company A and measured the effect. As a result, we could confirm the effect of educating middle-ranking managers who can create businesses. We will continue to work on various improvements and contribute to the development of the software industry.

    In order to overcome these barriers and “continue to create new value and contribute to society” of our management philosophy, we must achieve “creating new MIRAI work together with customers” and “developing new MIRAI technology together with employees”.

    To that end, it is first necessary to solidify our footing and achieve our long-term goal of 3 billion yen in annual sales in five years, enhance our brand power, which will be described later, and simultaneously develop human resources involved in R&D and prepare the money necessary for R&D.

    In previous studies, the authors have clarified that cashless payment penetration in Japan is lower than in other major countries and that there are problems with contactless credit card transactions with COVID-19. This paper focuses on the UK, where the ratio of cashless payments is higher than in Japan and contactless transactions are also advanced, and performs a comparative analysis of the differences with Japan. As a result, although there are differences in the background of cashless payment, the important points of difference were taken to be "cashless payment fees" and "government involvement in contactless transactions". The authors discussed the need for industry-government-academia collaboration to improve these points in the future.

    Medical and health services have become an inevitable theme not only for emergency coping with the covid-19 disaster, but also for increasing regional sustainability in an aging society. This study explores how a service theory with ecosystem model can be expressed in the current comprehensive regional approach to medical and health services, based on the author’s contents in “medical service science” education with a contents production business for caregiving and the outcome in tourism entrepreneurship emphasizing local experiential value for regional activation. Both of service management model and ecosystem perspectives referred by S-D logic are applied on the successful case and current smart city measures cases aiming to realize community-based medical/health care service beyond the difficulties of the regional complex system. These case studies not only show how co-creating health value by integrating local medical resources through data linkage with other fields are explained, but also indicates how the future innovative service is designed towards regional social sustainability.

    Chapter 4 of “Digital Education for Executives in Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises” series is “ICT and Various Work Styles,” and we would learn about the transformation of work styles.

    As ICT has widely adopted, we can connect to networks anywhere in the world. Japan’s work style reform has progressed rapidly as measures against corona infections. When obvious changes occur in the external environment, Japan as a country work on the reform without questioning. Most companies took on telework as a countermeasure against corona infections. Confusions among workers may occur if companies are not prepared to do so.

    It is important for companies to develop human resources through proper evaluations and guidelines if they want telework to be successful. Otherwise, there is a risk that productivity and organizational strength would decline, and corporate growth will be paused.

    This article focuses on issues related to telework and addresses considerations for employers to work on.
